For the first Trend Tuesday I decided to cover one trend that has been around for a while but seems to be full force this Spring: Bomber Jackets.
Bomber jackets, at least the type I am referring to, are typically a lightweight-nylon material with a front-zip and cotton cuffs and collar. I believe these jackets are also referred to as Baseball jackets but I don't have the official word on that. This style of jacket has been all over Instagram and blogs lately, it seems like every style enthusiast has at least one. I personally have a navy blue Wallace and Barnes version from J. Crew I received a couple years ago as a gift and it has been a staple. It's the perfect light jacket to pull a spring or fall outfit together.
When these jackets first came around, they were typically neutral, solid colors. Now, thanks to several designers, namely Gucci, a new breed of Bombers has emerged. The new "trend within a trend" involves embroidery, patches, bold patterns, and bright colors. I happen to thoroughly enjoy this new version and, thanks to companies like H&M and Asos, there is an abundance of affordable options on the market.
Final thoughts: Embrace the Bomber jacket, pick one up from an affordable retailer if you aren't sure you love it, and start incorporating it into your outfit rotation.
